Resting in His Presence
BLACK & WHITE EDITION

Have you ever felt like you weren’t enough for what was in front of you, like something was being asked of you but all you could see were the areas where you fall short?
Maybe you’ve looked at your life and noticed the places that feel weak, the things that don’t come easy, or the parts of yourself you wish were different, and quietly wondered how any of that could be used for something meaningful.
It can leave you feeling unsure, even hesitant to step forward, because deep down you question whether you have what it takes. And
somewhere in that place, the thought begins to settle in… how could God ever use someone like me?
You may not say it out loud, but it lingers. It shows up in the moments when you hold back, when you second guess what you felt God asking you to do, or when you compare yourself to others and feel like you don’t measure up.
It can make you feel like you’re always one step behind, like you’re missing something everyone else seems to have.
And over time, it can become easier to stay where you are than to step into something that feels bigger than you.
Friend, this Bible study is meant to remind you that you’re not alone in feeling this way. If you’ve ever questioned whether you’re enough or wondered how God could use you, I want you to know you’re not the only one who has stood in that place.
And if you haven’t read my memoir Learning to Lean, I pray it would be an encouragement to you. It’s my story of walking through those same thoughts and learning, little by little, that my weakness was never a limit to what God could do.
There is no limit to what He can do through a willing heart. When you say yes, even when you feel unsure, even when you don’t feel ready, He meets you there and does what you could never do on your own.

That’s what this study is about.
We walk through the lives of others in the Bible who felt the same way. People who saw their weakness clearly, yet were still called and used by God in ways they never could have done on their own.
We look at Moses, who struggled to speak and questioned how he could lead, yet God still called him and stayed with him every step of the way.
Gideon, who saw himself as the least and doubted what was being asked of him, yet was chosen and strengthened in the middle of his fear.
Paul, who carried a thorn he couldn’t remove, and had to learn what it meant to keep going while relying on God’s strength instead of his own.
Peter, who denied Jesus in a moment of fear, yet was met with grace and called forward again, not pushed aside.
Sarah, who laughed when she heard what God spoke, just like I did when He asked me to write books, yet still saw His promise come to life in a way only He could do.
And the woman with the alabaster jar, who came just as she was, carrying her past, and gave everything she had without holding anything back.
As you walk through each of their stories, you begin to see something take shape.
God doesn’t wait for you to feel ready.
He meets you right in the middle of where you are.

I want to remind you of something so important: God sees you, He loves you, and He has a purpose for your life. You may feel unqualified, unseen, or unsure of how He could possibly use you, but let me assure you, He specializes in working through our weaknesses to show His strength.
This book was written as a companion to Learning to Lean. You don’t have to read them both… but together, they tell a deeper story.
You’ll see my weakness up close… and the faithfulness of God right beside it.
Not just in my life—but in the lives of others throughout Scripture.
Whatever struggles you’re facing, surrender them to Him. Trust that He can take what feels broken and turn it into something beautiful. You don’t have to have it all together; you just have to be willing to say “yes” to Him.
God isn’t asking for perfection, He’s asking for your heart. When you step out in faith, even in your weakness, He will do more than you could ever imagine.
You are loved, chosen, and called. Keep going—He’s with you every step of the way.
With love,
Katie Marie
