If you had told me as a little girl—the one sitting in classrooms with red marks all over her papers, cheeks burning with shame because she couldn’t keep up—that one day I would become an author, I would have shaken my head in disbelief. How could a girl who struggled to read and write ever put words on a page, much less fill whole books? For years, I carried a quiet lie with me: that I wasn’t enough. It whispered through my thinking, influenced my choices, and shaped the way I saw myself.
But God had another story in mind.
Looking back now, I can trace a trail of His faithfulness. Every place I thought was failure—every “not enough,” every tear-stained moment—became the very doorway where Jesus met me. He was my Teacher when I had none. He was my strength when I had none. He turned my weakness into my testimony and my shame into a song of His goodness.
Today, I’m a wife, a mom of three, and the author of the Resting in His Presence series, a collection of memoir-style devotionals and Bible studies. These books were born in the hidden places of surrender, where God took the broken pieces of my story and wove them into something far more beautiful than I ever imagined. Learning to Lean, the first book in the series, tells the story of my lifelong battle with learning struggles—and the miracle of discovering that His strength truly is made perfect in weakness. From there, each book opens another chapter of my life story: moments of pain, loss, healing, forgiveness, and redemption—all pointing back to the goodness of Jesus.
Writing these books has been costly. There were nights when I wept over a keyboard, mornings when the lies of “you can’t do this” rang louder than truth, and days when it felt impossible to go on. I’ve lost manuscripts, faced ridicule, and wondered if anyone would ever care about my story. Yet in every moment, Jesus whispered, “Keep going. Lean on Me.”
And so, page by page, I leaned. I leaned when the words wouldn’t come. I leaned when fear told me to quit. I leaned when the cost felt too heavy. And I discovered something miraculous: every time I leaned into Him, He was strong enough to carry me.
Now, what once was my greatest weakness has become my testimony. The girl who was told she’d never make it without help now holds in her hands a stack of books—not because I became strong, but because Jesus carried me. Every page is an altar to His goodness. Every story is a reminder that nothing in our lives is wasted when it's placed in His hands.
That’s the heart behind this whole series. These are not just books—they are living testimonies of God’s faithfulness. They are invitations to draw near, to sit with Him in the quiet places, to rest in His presence, and to discover that His strength is more than enough for you too.
Outside of writing, you’ll find me living out these same lessons in the ordinary rhythms of life—raising my three kids, loving my family, navigating the ups and downs, and leaning on Jesus just as much in the kitchen or the car ride as I do when I’m writing a chapter. The things God has taught me don’t stay on the page; they shape the way I mother, the way I love, and the way I walk with Him in the everyday moments where His presence feels closest.
Friend, thank you for being here. Thank you for giving me the honor of sharing my journey with you. My prayer is that as you read these stories, you won’t just see what God has done in my life—you’ll begin to see what He longs to do in yours. Because if He can use my weakness, He can use yours. If He can turn my shame into testimony, He can turn your story into a song that brings Him glory.
This isn’t really a story about me learning to write—it's a story about me learning to lean.
And every word, every page, every tear is for Him.
To Jesus alone be the glory.
