Resting In His Presence Ministries

For years, God placed it on our hearts to help feed our neighbors. I actually felt this calling for the first time when I was just seventeen years old, but I didn’t know where to begin or what it would look like. I carried it quietly, praying over it and tucking it deep into my heart—trusting that if God ever wanted to bring it to life, He would make a way.
Nick felt the same burden. Together, we held onto this vision for years, always wondering when—or if—the right moment would come. We didn’t have the resources. We didn’t have a plan. We only had a desire to serve and a belief that God would make a way when the time was right.
Then one day, God opened the door in the most unexpected way.
After I was let go from my job because of a work injury, our household income was cut in half. With three teenagers—two boys and a girl—our grocery budget disappeared faster than we imagined. I remember standing in the kitchen, praying and talking to Jesus, asking Him to provide for our family just as He always had.
Right in the middle of that prayer, the doorbell rang.
When I opened the door, our neighbor stood there holding a box of food. We had never talked much before, but in that moment, he was an answer to prayer—a reminder that God sees, God cares, and God provides. And what I didn’t know then was that he wasn’t just anyone dropping off food. He actually worked at the main food distribution center in our area—the very place we now partner with every month. God didn’t just provide for our need; He sent the exact person who would later open the door for the ministry we hadn’t yet imagined.
That night, something shifted. I sat at the table and cried, overwhelmed by the way God had woven every detail together. I had already been writing for two years by then pouring my testimony into the Resting in His Presence series, learning to trust God one page at a time. And right in the middle of that writing journey, God placed a second calling into my hands. While He was growing me as an author, He was also opening the door to a ministry that would reach far beyond our home.
What began as a simple prayer for our own family became the beginning of something much bigger: a calling to make sure no family in our community would ever have to worry about bringing food home to their table.
With God’s perfect timing and gentle leading, The Neighbor’s Table was born.
What started with a single box of food delivered to our doorstep has now grown into a monthly distribution serving around 200 people. Nearly 30 volunteers show up every month, along with two churches coming together as one, to load cars, pray for families, and remind our neighbors that they are seen and loved. Month after month, God continues to provide—food, hands to help, strength, and joy. Not once has He failed to meet the need.
This is more than a food distribution. It is a testimony of God’s provision. It is a picture of His heart for our community. It is love in action.
Our desire is simple: to trust God, to love people, and to make sure every table in our neighborhood has food on it.
“For I was hungry and you fed Me.” — Matthew 25:35

The Neighbor’s Table is a community food distribution in Minnesota, created with one simple purpose: to love our neighbors the way Jesus asked us to. Every second Thursday of the month, we open our doors to families who need support, encouragement, prayer, and a little extra help putting food on their tables.
We are not a big organization. We are people—volunteers, parents, teenagers, pastors, and friends—who believe that no one should have to wonder where their next meal will come from.
With the help of Crossroads Church, Revive Church, and our partnership with Loaves & Fishes, we join together to serve hundreds of families each month with groceries, kindness, and prayer.
When people arrive, they are met with more than food. They are met with warmth. With compassion. With someone willing to listen to their story. With a reminder that they are seen, valued, and not walking through life alone. We don’t just hand out groceries—we offer encouragement, connection, and a place where the love of Jesus is lived out in simple, everyday ways.
Our volunteers help bag food, set up tables, carry groceries to cars, greet families, pray with those who want prayer, and make sure everyone who comes through feels cared for. We serve fresh produce, canned goods, pantry staples, and whatever the Lord provides for that month. And every time, He provides more than enough.
At its heart, The Neighbor’s Table is a place where neighbors become family and where ordinary people step into extraordinary moments of kindness. We show up because Jesus first showed up for us. We give because He gave to us. And we believe that when we serve our community with love, we are stepping right into the heart of God.
“For I was hungry and you fed Me.” — Matthew 25:35

The Neighbor’s Table is partnered with Loaves & Fishes, Crossroads Church and Revive Church, and together we serve our community every second Thursday of the month. Month after month, these two churches come alongside us with the same heart—to be the hands and feet of Jesus.
We show up together to love our neighbors, pray for them, encourage them, and help put food on their tables. It’s a joy to watch the Body of Christ come together as one, serving with compassion and generosity so every family who comes through knows they are seen, valued, and cared for.

I shared your post with a neighbor the other day and they went to your event. That evening I received a text with some pictures of their child so excited to get a stuffed animal and the parent commenting that what they loved most was the experience of the evening. Thank you to you and your team for providing a good experience and some food.

“I wasn’t sure how I was going to make it through the month. Money was tight, and I was embarrassed to ask for help. When I walked into The Neighbor’s Table, I immediately felt welcomed. No judgment. No questions. Just kindness. The volunteers prayed with me, helped carry groceries to my car, and reminded me that God sees me. This ministry has been such a blessing to my family.”

“With four kids, life gets expensive. The Neighbor’s Table has helped us stretch our budget and make sure our kids have what they need. What touched me most was when a volunteer asked if we needed prayer. I didn’t expect that. The whole drive home, I kept thanking God for this ministry. It’s more than food — it’s hope.”

“I had been going through a really hard season, and I told no one. When I came to The Neighbor’s Table, someone prayed with me and God met me in a way I can’t even explain. It was exactly what I needed. This ministry is truly God’s hands and feet.”

“What God Has Done in Me”
If you had asked me years ago whether I could ever lead something like The Neighbor’s Table, I would have said absolutely not. I never felt qualified. I never stepped into this ministry because I felt ready or capable. The truth is, I stepped into it because I knew I couldn’t do it without Jesus. Every part of The Neighbor’s Table has felt bigger than me—reading, writing, planning, communicating, organizing volunteers… none of it comes naturally to me. On my own, I would have never known where to start.
This seems like it's meant for people who knew more, understood more, and could speak with confidence. I didn’t see myself as someone God could use in a big way.
But that’s the beautiful part of this story… God never asked me to be qualified.
He just asked me to show up and trust Him.
Month after month, that’s all I’ve done. I pray over this ministry. I listen for His leading. I lean into His voice because I know I can’t do this in my own strength. And somehow, every single time, He provides. He brings the people. He brings the food. He brings the resources. He opens doors that I could never open. He shows me what to do when I feel lost or unsure. He speaks to my heart with a clarity I never knew was possible.
I’m still amazed that I can read and send the emails needed for this ministry. I’m still amazed that I can organize, communicate, and plan something this big when reading and writing once felt impossible for me. Sometimes I sit back and just cry — tears of joy, tears of laughter, tears of awe — because I can see His goodness all over this. I find myself saying, “Look at what God has done. Only He could do this.”
This ministry is not built on my strength, my skills, or my understanding.
It’s built on His.
Every bit of it — from the first box of food on our doorstep to the hundreds of families we now serve — is a testimony of what God can do through a willing heart. He has been faithful, patient, kind, and strong in every place I am weak. And all the glory belongs to Him. Always.
